4to. 7 + (1)pp. Publisher’s printed wrappers. Pages slightly creased at upper right hand corner and abraded at outer margins, also minor traces of old centre fold.

Printed description produced for the first exhibition of this celebrated painting by the American-born artist Benjamin West (1738-1820), President of the Royal Academy, taking as its inspiration one of the most dramatic passages in the Book of Revelations. The author is only identified by his initials J.G. (on p. 7), but may be identified as John Galt (1779-1839), Benjamin West’s biographer.
