A detailed and well-illustrated history of this important royal residence and its gardens, built in 1646 in the baroque style by Friedrich Wilhelm I of Brandenburg for his new bride, Louise Henriette of the House of Orange, after whom the castle, and eventually Bötzow, the town in which it was situated, was named.
