First edition of this well-informed biography of Vanvitelli (1700-73), architect of the palace of the Kings of Naples at Caserta, written by his grandson with the help of family papers. It incorporate a particularly full and interesting description of Caserta based on Vanvitelli's own notes. Not in BAL Cat.
