Large folio. 2 vols, containing in all 784pp, and hundreds of photo ills. Publisher’s cloth, in pictorial wrappers. No ownership inscription but Sir Howard Colvin’s copy.

These large and handsome volumes provide a meticulous publication of the albums of drawings and related manuscripts of the Italian renaissance period preserved in Sir John Soane’s Museum, the majority of them purchased by Soane directly from the library of Robert Adam. They include one of the earliest manuscripts of Francesco di Giorgio’s treatise on architecture and three important volumes of architectural drawings by Giovanni Battista Montano.
