Large 8vo. 131 + (1)pp, portrait frontispiece, 1 litho plate. Original cloth boards, rebacked with red morocco spine (the boards somewhat worn and soiled). Contemporary ink ownership inscriptions of --- Johnson on title leaf and of William Henry Amyot (1820-1906), Newcastle barrister, on verso of front free endpaper. Early twentieth century bookplate of Frederick Walter Dendy DCL (1849-1940), Newcastle solicitor and antiquary, on rear pastedown endpaper, and ownership inscription of his son Walter Dendy inside front cover. A clean copy internally.

First and only edition of this rare monograph on the very able Newcastle-based architect John Dobson (1787-1865), written with proper filial piety by his daughter and providing an unusually full list of his architectural commissions.
