A catalogue of over 14,000 engraved portraits, all apparently in the stock of the Daniell printselling firm, described by its compiler as “the most complete list of portraits issued since that published by Evans” and accompanied by a helpful topographical index. The market targeted seems not to have been print collectors as such, but persons wishing to use portraits for “extra-illustrating and kindred purposes”, at that date still a very popular occupation.
