Full Description
Large 8vo. viii+310+(2)pp. Original quarter vellum , gilt top-edge. A few pen and pencil marks in margins, but a good copy.
A catalogue detailing the Garrick Club’s collection of paintings in 1936, the majority of which were theatrical portraits of the 18th and 19th centuries. The catalogue was compiled by C.K. Adams of the National Portrait Gallery and was printed privately for the Club, and although it has now been superseded by a more modern catalogue, it is a very handsome and scholarly production. Six of the paintings in the collection (including portraits by Zoffany, Millais and de Wilde) are reproduced in the catalogue.
