A book which was for long the standard textbook on ornament, written by F.S.Meyer, Professor at the School of Applied Art in Karlsruhe, Germany, and first published in German in 1888. It was found helpful for its clear line illustrations of ornamental details. The text of the present English-language edition was revised slightly by its editor, Hugh Stannus (1840-1908), an architect and lecturer. The present copy belonged to Eric Rowlstone Jarrett, Studio Master at the Architectural Association in the interwar period.
