Although issued with title leaves describing these volumes as the first two volumes of the five-volume set of Fergusson’s History of Architecture, the volumes are described on their spines as vols.I and II of Fergusson’s History of Ancient & Medieval Architecture, reflecting the fact that by the 1890s they were being marketed separately. For this edition the text was revised by Phené´Spiers.
