A key to modern architecture.
London and Glasgow, Blackie and Son Limited (1939).
8vo. viii + (2) + 180pp, 16 photo plates, text ills. Publisher’s cloth, in dustwrapper. Gavin Stamp’s copy, with his bookplate.
First edition. The text focuses on the practicalities involved in designing and building using new methods of construction, but the book’s date of publication means that the examples of buildings chosen as illustrations include some of the iconic modernist buildings built in Britain in the late 1930s, by such architects as Mendelsohn, Chermayeff, Maxwell Fry and Tecton.
