Full Description

8vo. 72pp, photo text ills, plus (2)pp publisher’s adverts. Publisher’s printed cloth. From the library of the Aberdeen architectural firm George Bennett Mitchell & Son, with Mitchell’s pencil ownership inscription.

An illustrated handbook to English domestic architecture intended to assist laymen in identiying and dating houses of various periods. Most of the photographic illustrations derive from Nathaniel Lloyd’s substantial book on the subject, but Richards’ text is deliberately much simplified and extends to the later nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
