Small 8vo. 284 + (2)pp. Contemporary limp vellum, recase with more recent endpapers. Contemporary ink ownership inscription “Pallavicino” at foot of title leaf. An old light stain at bottom right hand corner of outer blank margins of first seven leaves, also more slightly visible in much diminished size on succeeding leaves as far as signature F. Another old stain at inner upper corner of pp 25-37, but the copy is generally in clean, fresh condition.
This appears to be the only edition of a scarce devotional work by Raffaelle Grilinzoni, a Dominican friar, who describes himself on the volume’s title leaf as “Dottore Collegiato, & Essaminatore Sinodale”. The book is dedicated by him to Sister Maria Madalena Ludovisi, Prioress of a nunnery in Bologna, and it may be deduced from this and from the volume’s imprint that Grilinzoni was also based in Bologna.
