A good illustrated study of contemporary American theatre building, encompassing both traditional theatres and the new cinemas (although the authors believed that the popularity of movies was in decline, with live entertainment replacing them; cinemas were being designed accordingly). Architects featured include Herbert J. Krapp, John Eberson, McKim Mead & White, and the more progressive Joseph Urban.
