Amerikanische Architektur und Stadtbaukunst. Ein überblick über den heutigen Stand der Amerikanischen Baukunst in ihrer Beziehung zum Staedtebau. 550 Abbildungen ausgewählt under erläutert von Wener Hegemann.
Berlin, Ernst Wasmuth AG 1925.
Large folio. 152pp, 557 photo ills. Publisher’s cloth, with minor wear to outer corners of binding, but nonetheless a very good, clean copy.
A very large and handsome volume devoted to American public architecture, commercial architecture, domestic architecture and town planning, published as the first of an intended series of volumes issued in the aftermath of the Gothenburg Town Planning conference of 1923. The excellent photographic illustrations, arranged thematically, show Hegemann’s appreciation of buildings designed by the McKim Mead White partnership, of high-rise buildings in New York City, of recent buildings on university campuses, and of recent town planning schemes all over the United States.
