Catalogue for a major exhibition held at Leeds in 1986 to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the International Surrealist Exhibition held in London in June-July 1936. The volume comprises text assessing the nature and influence of the the Surrealist movement in its pre-Second World War incarnation, together with an illustrated catalogue of exhibits of Surrealist art works. It also contains excerpts from Surrealist manifestoes and from Surrealist literary works, both in prose and in verse (the verse includes poems by David Gascoyne).
