Arc de Triomphe des Tuileries, érigé en 1806 … prospectus ; Monumens funéraires choisis dans les cimetières de Paris … prospectus.
Paris, Normand Fils nd (but 1829).
8vo. 2 items. 3 + (1)pp ; 4pp. Folded as issued.
The original printed prospectuses for two publications by the engraver and publisher Louis Marie Normand, known professionally as “Normand fils”. The prospectus for the Monumens Funéraires states that publication of it was to take place in twelve monthly parts of six plates each, commencing from 15 December 1829, which indicates that the prospectus was issued before that date. The other prospectus contains no direct indication of date, but the Monumens Funéraires prospectus refers to the Arc de Triomphe publication as if it was already available, implying that publication of that book had taken place before December 1829 ; the compilers of the British Architectural Library catalogue assign Normand’s volume on the Arc de Triomphe to 1830, but they also record that its title leaf carries an etched vignette dated 1828, and we conclude that publication of it in fact took place sometime in 1829.
