Trade catalogue issued by James Gibbons Ltd, of the St.John’s Works, Wolverhampton, a family firm of locksmiths in business since the seventeenth century. They manufactured door furniture of every kind and their status in the door furniture business is shown by an illustration at the front of the catalogue of the “bronze metal door furniture and mace brackets” that they had supplied for the House of Commons chamber as restored by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott after the 1939-1945 war. This version of the trade catalogue has the same publication number and the same date of publication as an earlier version, but a statement on the verso of the title leaf in the earlier version that the firm had been “established over 285 years ago” has been changed in this version to “over 295 years ago”, and the catalogue has a different number of photo plates.
