English architects of the early 20th century found William Walcot (1874-1943) almost indispensable as a perspective draughtsman, but Walcot was also a genuine architectural artist in his own right, and the present volume, offering “a world of towers and palaces, with hints of strange, almost exotic, colour” conveys much of the character of his work. Sir R. Blomfield evokes the name of Piranesi, and other contributors of admiring text include Lethaby, Thomas Ashby and W.G. Newton.
