Autograph letter, signed, 2pp, written in ink and folded as sent.

A letter written by Sir Robert Peel, Bart (1788-1850), statesman and Prime Minister, to the Dean of Lichfield, declining the Dean’s “kind offer of accommodation at the Deanery” for Queen Adelaide, William IV’s widow, who was then visiting Sir Robert Peel at Drayton Manor, Peel’s country residence in Staffordshire, but who had expressed a wish to see Lichfield Cathedral during her stay there.
