Full Description
Folio. 18+(2)pp, 20 plates, 37 text ills, some photo. Publisher’s quarter cloth portfolio, with decorative front cover in Art Nouveau style. A good copy.
A handsome publication by a Swiss architect which provides one of the most attractive contemporary accounts of the housing built for their employees by the Cadbury family at Bournville and by W. H. Lever (Lord Leverhulme) at Port Sunlight, with a well-organised text and evocative plates of house designs by W. A. Harvey at Bournville and by Grayson & Ould, Maurice Adams, etc. at Port Sunlight. A footnote on p.10 reveals that the author was a friend of Walter Crane.
