A quaint production by present-day standards, but evocative of the kind of publicity which seaside towns sought for in the interwar period. It begins with a fictional interview between the long-deceased King George IV and the volume’s author, a former editor of the Daily Mirror and the Daily Herald, and its period flavour is reinforced by a wealth of advertisements for Brighton’s numerous hotels and up-market “private hotels” (boarding houses).
