First edition of Collins’s admirable study of the history of construction in concrete from the end of the eighteenth century onwards, particularly valuable since it concentrates on the use of concrete in architecture rather than in engineering projects. It also provides a very full and appreciative account of Auguste Perret and of his contribution to the aesthetics of building design in concrete.
