A handsomely produced and well-informed study of the conurbation comprising BIrmingham and the adjacent industrial areas of Warwickshire and Staffordshire. It incorporates sections on redevelopment and future planning, including proposals by Thomas Sharp and Geoffrey Jellicoe. The impetus for the volume came from the philanthropic Cadbury family, and the West Midlands Group’s Secretary, C.Bertram Parkes, was Chief Architect to the Bournville Village Trust.
