Earlier editions of this book had dealt only with German house interiors of the renaissance period, so this third edition has a wider subject matter. It has never been a highly regarded book, but the pages on colour schemes are interesting and the rather dull-looking woodcut illustrations portray not just historical examples but also some interiors and furnishings by German designers of the mid 19th century.
