Die neuen Entwürfe zum Berlin Königlichen Opernhaus.
Berlin, Ernest Wasmuth AG 1913 (XII Sonderheft der Berliner Architekturwelt).
Small folio. xxi + (1) + 132pp, incl many photo ills and plans. Recent cloth, with mounted part of original front wrapper on upper board. Recent decorative bookplate.
One of the less familiar publications in the Sonderheft der Berliner Architekturwelt series (well known to architectural historians of today for an earlier volume devoted to the architectural work of Frank Lloyd Wright). It publishes the entries in two architectural competitions, respectively held in 1910 and in 1912, to provide a design for a new royal opera house in Berlin. The first competition was a limited one between seven selected participants, including Max Littmann and Friedrich von Thiersch, while the second competition, an open one, attracted entries from a wide range of German architects including Martin Dülfer, Lossow & Kühne, Bruno Möhring, and Hans Poelzig.
