The author’s main focus is on the picturesque cottages of the later Georgian and Regency period, but he usefully relates them to similar buildings of the Victorian period in Gothic and Italianate styles, and the volume is rounded off by a few examples of very modern neo-vernacular architecture (the final building featured is by Eric Parry).
