8vo. viii (including photo frontispiece) + 156pp, 56 photo ills on plates. Publisher’s cloth, the covers a bit finger-marked and soiled (but a clean copy internally). Brian Housden’s copy, with his ink ownership inscription dated December 1950.
First edition, a little scarcer than the reissues made by the Faber firm later in the 1940s. Maxwell Fry had been an active promoter of modernist architecture since the early 1930s, joining the MARS Group and entering into a short lived architectural partnership with Walter Gropius, and the objectives for architecture and urban regeneration that he sets out in the present volume are very representative of the period.
