First edition. The text of four lectures delivered by Berlage at the Kunstgewerbe-Museum in Zürich, Switzerland, discussing the geometric and other principles underlying architectural design. Although the text is in German, and the present copy carries the imprint of the Berlin publisher Julius Bard, the book was in fact printed in Amsterdam in an edition of 1500 copies, 800 with Bard’s imprint as here, and the remainder with the imprint of Berlage’s regular publishers, W.L. & J.Brusse, Rotterdam, Netherlands.
