Hampstead. Being eight sketches in pencil with some letter-press (title taken from front wrapper).
London, The Baynard Press 1916.
8vo. (24)pp, text ills tipped in. Publisher’s printed paper wrappers, slightly marked with small tear to spine. A little light spotting to text, otherwise good. No ownership inscription, but Roderick Gradidge’s copy.
An entertaining booklet extolling the joys of Hampstead Heath (including a “chapter for schoolboys – crusty curmudgeons please avoid”), with tipped-in illustrations of pencil drawings by the author. The booklet was intended as an advertisement for the London Underground, but proceeds from its sale went to the care of wounded soldiers.
