The original report setting out the proposals by the future Sir Frederick Gibberd (1908-1984) for the development of Harlow New Town, laid out to Gibberd’s plans in the late 1940s and early 1950s. Unusually, Gibberd himself settled in Harlow, where he lived until his death, and he was able to persuade numerous other well-known British architects to design buildings in the town. The present publication, printed by HMSO but not seemingly widely circulated at the time, is now uncommon.
