A scarce pamphlet printed for private distribution by Sir Richard Colt Hoare as part of his preparations for his History of Modern Wiltshire. It sets out the principal topics which Hoare regarded as appropriate for discussion in his History, and asks for assistance from his readers in general and from “the resident clergy of our country” in particular. It incorporates at the end Hoare’s separately printed “Queries submitted … with a view to promote a general history of the county”.
