A well-illustrated summary of the significant public housing programme delivered in the USA during the first half of the 1940s, much of it to provide living quarters for defence industry workers. The intention of its author, the future Sir Hugh Casson, was to show what a large public housing programme could achieve, as a model for what might be done in Britain in the post-war period.
