This documents the unhappy fate of Romania’s historic buildings after the closure of the Directorate for the National Cultural Patrimony in 1977, culminating in the massive demolition programme carried out for the Ceaucescu regime in the mid 1980s. Photographs show the destruction of the Vacaresti Monastery and of other buildings in Bucharest.
