An illustrated biography of the Boston arts collector and patron Isabella Stewart Gardner, who at the turn of the century commissioned the local architect Willard T. Sears to build her a large museum in the style of a fifteenth-century Venetian palace in which to display her impressive art collection to the public, and which also served as her home until her death in 1924.
