4to. vi + (2) + 81 + (3)(first of which is numbered 80*) + 166 + (3) + pp 172-186 (complete thus), mezzotint portrait frontispiece of Opie, 9 plates with etched portraits of artists by J. Girtin (printed with coloured backgrounds), 1 other plate with etched portrait of William Hogarth. Frontispiece stained at lower margin, early leaves stained at right-hand bottom corner. Contemporary quarter red morocco, worn and rebacked.

Commemorative volume for the history painter and portrait painter John Opie (1761-1807), including a memoir of him by his wife, tributes to him by professional colleagues, and the texts of the series of four lectures delivered by him shortly before his death in his capacity as Professor of Painting at the Royal Academy.
