Illustrated catalogue of an exhibition celebrating the rôle of the Petit Palais in promoting avant-garde art in Paris over the previous forty years. It was this gallery that hosted the annual Salon des Indépendants and later the Salon d’Automne (both exhibitions set up by and for those artists who had had their work rejected by the official Salon), and the artists featured include a wealth of famous names from fauvism, cubism, dadaism and other progressive movements.
