Marcel Breuer architect and designer.
New York, Architectural Record (and Museum of Modern Art) (1949).
4to. 127 + (1)pp, incl photo portrait frontispiece and 196 photo ills and plans. Publisher’s cloth, lower outer corner of front cover slightly wrinkled. Light spotting on pp 6-7 but otherwise in good internal condition.
First and only edition. By 1949 Breuer (1902-1981) was well-known as a designer of modernist furniture and of interiors, but less well-known as an architect, and the present volume, written by Blake but with significant input both from Gropius and from Philip Johnson, played an important part in demonstrating Breuer’s skill as an architect in a modernist idiom.
