Memorable Edinburgh houses. With 38 original illustrations from drawings made expressly for this work by J.W.Parsons.
Edinburgh and London, Oliphant, Anderson, and Ferrier 1893.
8vo. viii + 122pp, 38 woodcut ills, also (4)pp publisher’s adverts. Publisher’s gilt stamped cloth, spine faded and slightly bumped at head and foot (but otherwise a good, untrimmed copy).
Concerned with the history of the houses discussed rather than with their architecture, but with neat vignette illustrations of the more important of them. This little book’s street-by-street arrangement is helpful in understanding whereabouts in the city the most notable individuals of the Scottish enlightenment resided.
