Jagger, Sargeant
Modelling and sculpture in the making.
London and New York, The Studio Limited 1933.
Full Description
4to. 79 + (1)pp, 33 mounted photo plates. Publisher’s pictorial boards, cloth spine. An 8-page printed list, “Modelling Sculpture : a list of SCOPAS requirements”, London, John Tiranti and Company 1934, loosely inserted (it is interesting that the Tiranti firm, subsequently booksellers and publishers only, were at that date marketing sculptors’ modelling equipment as well). In good condition.
A practical guide to the techniques of sculptural modelling, well-produced and illustrated, and of additional interest because its author, Charles Sargeant Jagger MC ARA (1885-1934), was one of the ablest sculptors of the inter-war period, best known for his very impressive Royal Artillery War Memorial at Hyde Park Corner, London.
