Full Description

Small 4to. 83 + (1)pp, many text ills (some photo), folding coloured plan, large folding map (at end of volume). Publisher’s cloth, in pictorial dustwrapper, the wrapper a little abraded at margins. Gavin Stamp’s copy, with his booklabel.

Attractively produced scheme by the urban planner Thomas Sharp for the post-Second World War regeneration of this historic English city. Happily or unhappily, Sharp’s proposals proved to be too bold for the City Council which had commissioned them, and this is therefore the only lasting record of what Sharp suggested.
