Full Description

Folio. (4)pp, 36 plates (of which 17 show ground plans, rest are photo). Publisher’s printed board portfolio, with decorative design on upper cover.

A handsome folio-size volume, providing large photo illustrations of the front facades of a selection of new architect-designed apartment blocks in Paris, with accompanying ground plans. The sixteen architects or architectural partnerships involved were all specialists in the design of apartment buildings and active during the 1920s (as evidenced by the presence of occasional Art Deco motifs), and the best known of them was Henri Sauvage, well-known both as an architect and an able interior designer. No date of publication is stated on the volume’s title leaf, but dates of either 1926 or 1928 have been suggested for it in specialist library catalogues.
