Impressive catalogue of an exhibition held at the Tate Gallery in 1964, featuring paintings and sculptures by artists who range from Matisse (item 1) to David Hockney (items 351-2) and Allen Jones (items 353-4), with Moore, Hepworth, Rothko, Pasmore, and many others in between. The works of art to be exhibited were chosen by Alan Bowness, Lawrence Gowing and Philip James, while, as the catalogue states, “the exhibition is designed by Alison and Peter Smithson”.
