Among the paintings, all acquired by Brocklebank or other members of his family since the early 1880s, were works by, or attributed to, Filippino Lippi, Lucas van Leyden, Holbein, Opie, Turner and others. A few items kept at Brocklebank’s town house in Liverpool are listed separately at the end of the volume. The catalogue was issued in an edition of 200 copies only.
