A volume of engraved views of the principal public buildings and churches of Paris and its environs, with half-a-dozen additional plates devoted to cathedrals elsewhere in France. Each plate has an accompanying leaf of descriptive text. Although the book was aimed at the contemporary tourist, the selection of buildings illustrated includes two of Ledoux’s Barrières and other public buildings of the time which have since been demolished or altered. The plates seem all to be dated 1818, but a date for the book in the early 1820s is indicated by one passage in its text. BAL Cat 3963.
