Full Description

8vo. Engraved title leaf, viii + 660pp, engraved folding frontispiece plan, 14 engraved plates. Contemporary diced calf, gilt spine. Armorial bookplates of Henry Porter and Ivor A.B.Fergusson. Some internal spotting, intermittently unpleasing, on text and plates, also offsetting from the plates.

This has nothing much to commend it bibliographically, for it is only a fifth edition of Pennant’s well-known book on London first published in 1790, but Pennant wrote it from his personal knowledge of London in the 1770s and 1780s and he records facts about the city which may not be familiar to readers today.
