A volume from this French publisher’s “L’Encyclopédie de l’Architecture” series, featuring designs in modernist idiom for sports stadiums, swimming pools and other sports club facilities. The major structure illustrated is the Stadio Artemio Franchi (originally Stadio Giovanni Berta) at Firenze, Italy, a commission for a football stadium dating from early in the career of the eminent Italian structural engineer Pier Luigi Nervi, but already showing his bold handling of reinforced concrete construction.
