A scarce book providing a detailed account by the Milanese architect Carlo Amati (1776-1852) of archaeological discoveries made in 1830 during road-making operations close to the sixteen surviving columns from a Roman temple or Roman baths complex, which have stood since early Christian times in the forecourt of the basilica of S.Lorenzo in Milan (Amati had previously discussed these columns in his Antichita di Milano, 1821).
