The first major volume in the Survey of London series to be published by the RCHM, recording in detail the impressive former headquarters of the London County Council (subsequently the Greater London Council), including an account of the competition for the building, won in 1908 by the then youthful architect Ralph Knott (1878-1929), and of its construction.
