Essentially an offprint of an article by Parker published in two separate parts in the Archaeological Journal for 1878, but specifically issued “for private circulation” and in its own way notable for a passage on p.4 of the first part in which Parker extols the contribution made by Robert Willis to architectural history and dismisses “the small clique of ignorant persons who set up poor old John Britton as a rival to Willis”.
