Published under the auspices of the Association for Planning and Regional Reconstruction, this booklet offers guidance on the design and planning of the kitchen of the small modern house, and of related facilities for “personal hygiene, household cleaning and laundry work”. It reflects the requirements of its time in providing measured design drawings for such mundane features as kitchen cupboards and cupboards intended to house cleaning materials (although it now seems strangely old-fashioned in suggesting that one of the functions of a utility room would be to provide “a suitable place for plucking fowls, skinning rabbits, and other jobs”).
